The role of Support Management is increasingly commercially driven with Support Managers responsibilities combining both technical and operational needs with the need for reduced cost of operation. Cost reductions have generally been driven top-down with arbitrary targets set without the supporting information or data to determine the supportability impacts or achievability of the targets.

LSC Group’s Repairable Asset Management System (RAMS) assists with the assessment of forecast support costs and provides the information to assess realistic cost reduction programmes based upon historical operational information. For example, the operational cost reductions of introducing a reliability improvement programme across the fleet can be assessed to determine likely overall support savings. Alternatively, the support cost savings made from increasing an asset’s life, or scheduled maintenance periods, can similarly be assessed.
