Def Stan 00-60 Compliant CSDB

The storage, configuration and management of the data modules produced as part of the technical documentation activity is a fundamental component of the process of the technical documentation and Interactive Electronic Technical Publication (IETP) production process. LSC Group’s ModuleMaster is a fully AECMA 1000D / Defence Standard 00-60 compliant Common Source Database (CSDB) that facilitates the storage, management and retrieval of modular electronic documentation information.

The software is designed to accept data in a Standard Generalised Mark-up Language (SGML) AND eXtensible Mark-up Language (XML) format and automatically store it in the CSDB ready for rapid and efficient retrieval of information packets when required. ModuleMaster simply reads in SGML/XML tagged documents, stores the files and extracts some of the SGML tagged information to enable the documents to be retrieved at a later date.

ModuleMaster is positioned at the heart of an electronic documentation system. There are many proprietary SGML/XML authoring tools that can provide the input data. There are many proprietary SGML/XML compliant viewers that can provide the output. However, this is the first software tool to be produced that can fully integrate with ANY SGML/XML authoring system in ANY workflow environment and to output to ANY SGML/XML compliant viewer.

ModuleMaster includes an open Application Programming Interface to enable the linking of ModuleMaster to other systems, thus allowing the automatic population (with suitable customisation) of embryonic data modules in ModuleMaster. This can significantly reduce the cost and time of producing compliant data modules.
