Technical Authoring

LSC Group has been working in the defence environment for many years and has developed an experienced team of technical authors/engineers to meet the technical documentation authoring requirements for the defence sector.

The combination of skilled author/engineers and the use of the latest information management technologies allow LSC Group to offer focused, cost effective and innovative technical documentation.

Specialist skills in writing, illustration and delivery (paper or electronic) of technical information to various industry standards are used for projects in a variety of industries.

LSC Group's authors/engineers are SGML/XML trained to ensure that the authoring process is optimised to reduce the cost to the customer.

The authoring skills cover all technical disciplines including mechanical, electrical and electronic (including communications). The majority of LSC Group authors are from a military background and as such, are aware of the special military operational and maintenance regimes which Defence technical documentation must address.

Many new defence projects are now mandating compliance with Defence Standard 00-60. LSC Group has a unique portfolio of products and services that cover the spectrum of the Defence Standard 00-60 requirement.

In addition, the move away from paper to electronic management and delivery can provide a challenge as well as a benefit. LSC Group have considerable experience in legacy data conversion and have an enviable track record including the conversion of the Royal Navy’s suite of technical documentation from paper to Defence Standard 00-60 compliant SGML (2.3 million pages).
