Kathy Browne, Contracts Manager at LSC Group based in Lichfield, will take to the skies with the Black Knights, Royal Artillery Display Parachute Team, to raise money for the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) Forces Help. Dozens of daredevil fundraisers, including fitness model Nell McAndrew, will take part in the SSAFA Forces Help ‘Big Jump’ over the weekend of June 20th and 21st. Volunteers will be jumping in tandem with members of the Black Knights at Netheravon Airfield Camp in Wiltshire. They will freefall from 13,000ft at around 130mph before the parachute is opened by the instructor. Kathy, an LSC employee of 10 years, is looking forward to the challenge, and said: “I’m so excited— its something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I’m nervous too, but 13 is my lucky number, perhaps 13,000 will be too!. “My fund raising target is £1500 which is in itself something of a challenge with only three weeks before the ‘Big Jump’ but with the support of LSC Group, my friends and family, local companies (including my butcher and hairdresser) and local people, I am hopeful of meeting the target and concentrating my thoughts on the fund raising rather than the 13,000ft!” George Webb, LSC Group Managing Director has been a supporter of this charity for some years, and has offered to match every pound raised. “SSAFA is a very deserving cause and one close to our industry and hearts especially since Iraq and now Afghanistan. Service men, women, and their families need our support, and with LSC being located within the home of the Staffordshire Regiment we hope local people will be generous in these difficult times”. The Big Jump is an exciting way of raising funds to support SSAFA Forces Help’s vital work assisting both current and former members of our Armed Forces and their families. The Association’s Director of Fundraising, Claire Hoather, said: “The Big Jump is a fantastic way to show your support for our servicemen and women and I would like to say a big thank you to all those who are taking part and, of course, the Black Knights.” You can donate to this worthy cause on Kathy's JustGiving fund raising page. |
