LSC Group has recently launched the 'Lets put all our energy into SSAFA' campaign as part of its ongoing commitment to fundraising for SSAFA, its 2010 Corporate Charity. For every £1 LSC Group saves in terms of gas and electricity at its headquarters in Lichfield, £1 will be donated to the SSAFA Norton Home, located in Selly Oak Birmingham - equivalent to the homes annual energy bill. SSAFA is working hard to improve the lives of service men, women and their families. One of their initiatives - Norton Homes - provides accommodation to families of injured service personnel, allowing them to be close to their loved ones whilst they are being treated. The homes, designed as 'home from home', provide safe and supportive accommodation for partners, children and parents as they come to terms with news of a serious injury. The Norton Home initiative has already made an immeasurable difference to the lives of many wounded servicemen and women. In more than a year, more than 600 people have stayed at the homes. The second Norton Home, the original one being located at Headley Court, Surrey, opened in Birmingham in February 2009. The home is close to the Royal College for Defence Medicine at Selly Oak, Birmingham, often the first port-of-call for injured personnel returning to the UK. Karen Woodgate, SSAFA's Corporate and Events Manager says "We're delighted to be working with LSC Group on this exciting and innovative fundraising campaign. The support we have received from LSC and their employees has been fantastic with staff taking part in triathlons and our annual skydiving event 'The Big Jump'. We look forward to continuing this in 2010 and working with LSC to reach their fundraising target that will make an enormous difference to our much needed Norton Home at Selly Oak, a facility that has been in constant use since its launch in February 2009". LSC Group is keen, not only to raise the profile of SSAFA and its Norton Home initiative, but to give back to its local community. Working towards funding the annual energy bill at the Norton Home in Selly Oak is testament to its commitment to such a worthy cause. To see us in the Birmingham Post CLICK HERE |
