LSC Group are pleased to announce that three of its senior consultants have recently gained professional recognition through the award of Fellowships from their institutions. Mr David Ellis and Dr Tim King have recently been awarded the IMechE Fellowship – the highest accolade of elected membership, awarded to those who demonstrate exceptional commitment and innovation in mechanical engineering, whilst Mr Nira Chamberlain, has been made a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and it’s Applications – reaching the highest professional status as a Mathematician. 

A Chartered Engineer since 1992, with a Masters Degree in Aerospace Vehicle Design, and ex RAF engineering officer and a Design authority representative in industry, David has a considerable breadth of experience both in policy development and in engineering management.  More recently, he has gained a reputation for his knowledge of Defence governance and financial regulations, and it is this combination of engineering and financial acumen that he currently uses to ensure that LSC Group-provided software meets the requirements of the MOD customer.  David described the receipt of confirmation of his fellowship as ‘’a moment of considerable pride and pleasure’’.

Principal Consultant at LSC Group, Tim went on to say ‘’ I am honoured to know that my peers have judged me to be worthy of election. I really appreciate the broad view of engineering that exists within the IMechE’’.  Tim has combined international experience in through life information exploitation to support high value, complex assets with involvement in major MOD programmes including Future Carrier, JCA, FSM, Vanguard Submarines, LPD and Sea King, aswell as having worked on major projects for Shell, IBM, QinetiQ and Thales.

Nira Chamberlain, LSC Group’s Modelling and Simulation Capability Lead, has been working towards his Fellowship for the past four years, he describes his feelings towards the acknowledgement ‘’ There is a sense of pride instilled in me as it means that my fellow mathematical  peers have accepted and respected the work I have done for LSC Group.’’ Previously having worked for names such as Advantica, EDS and T&N, he has been with the company since 2002, currently working on the Future Submarines project, and previously having worked on the Aircraft carrier CVF, Nira is educated to Masters level, and in his final year of his Mathemetics PhD.

LSC Group firmly believes that membership of professional institutions provides an invaluable source of information on developments and provides up to date knowledge within specific industries for individuals and strongly recognises the importance of encouraging and supporting development of its entire staff within all areas of the business.  Currently, the company has 4 Fellows and 42 Members of various institutes within 152 employees, evidencing the high quality of staff that they employ.
