LSC group saw 30 members of their senior management team walk the heights of Mount Snowdon, Wales last Thursday raising in the aim to raise in the region of £3,000 for the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association, their corporate charity. The walk took the dynamic and motivated team of 30, six hours to complete, covering a distance of 10 miles, and climbing an astonishing 3560 ft. Mary Smith, SSAFA’s Awareness and Fundraising Manager, South West Wales also joined the group on the climb and comments ‘’ It was a privilege to join the intrepid trekkers from LSC on their challenge to climb Mount Snowdon. All members of the party made it to the top, although the speeds did vary somewhat – sadly the clouds engulfed us at the peak but the views on the way up were spectacular. It was a brilliant day with a great sense of comradely and team spirit – what a wonderful way to end my time with SSAFA Forces Help - my thanks to everyone concerned and good luck with the next challenge’’. This is just a part of the companies combined charitable and environmental efforts to raise funds for the worthy cause – earlier on in the year they launched an integrated campaign - 'Let's put all our energy into SSAFA', in which they are aspiring to raise an astounding £10, 000 to celebrate the 125th anniversary of SSAFA Forces Help. George Webb, LSC Group Managing Director, who is a keen supporter of the overall initiative and of SSAFA Forces Help, their corporate charity says: “Since the launch of the LSC ‘Putting all our Energy into SSAFA’ initiative at the beginning of the year, the campaign has gone from strength to strength, receiving a tremendous amount of support from all over the business. Everybody who took part in the recent Snowdon walk, all made it to the top which was a fantastic achievement. I would like to thank and congratulate everyone for their efforts for this very worthy cause. SSAFA celebrate their 125th year in 2010 they are an enduring charity who’s good work helps our Service people and their families when they most need it. At some time in the not too distant future our Forces will be back from Afghanistan and the Middle East, the war will not be front page news, it will be organisations such as SSAFA who will ensure that support is still there for the people who have given so much.’’ If you would like to support the effort and congratulate the team on the completion of the challenge you can donate at www.justgiving.co.uk/LSC-Group or using the Justgiving widgets dotted around our site.
