Shephard’s Military Logistics Conference 2011 will be held Nov 29 - Dec 01, 2011 in Bristol providing maximum convenience to DE&S plus the offer of free places to OF-5 and above.
Military Logistics will address key issues facing the defence logistics community including equipment availability and engineering support in deployed operations and return to contingency, the future of the support chain and supply chain management and the role of maintenance, repair and overhaul on operational capability.
As lead sponsors of this event, LSC Group has been assisting Shephard Group in organising this event and has two featured feature speakers covering supply chain improvements in support of operations and commodities transformation.
Day 1 - UK MOD Expeditionary Campaign Infrastructure (ECI) PT - Support to Operations and the Return to Contingency
Mark Willis - Strategic Development Manager
The Public Accounts Committee found that until the FLIS goes live in 2014, the MOD runs the risk of losing track of items altogether due to IT failures. At present, the department does not have the information to identify where savings could be made. It does not know the full costs of its current activities or the cost of alternative supply options, information it needs if it is to begin improving VfM. This presentation will show how a more efficient supply chain could release resources for the front line by developing more cost-effective ways of running its supply operations. The session will use evidence from a recent project looking at the identification, development and implementation of improved supply chain processes at the UK MOD ECI PT.
Day 2 - UK MOD Deployable Support & Test Equipment (DS&TE) PT - Commodities Transformation: Current procurement support and supply chain processes
Dennis Hoyland - Executive Consultant
LSC Group was engaged to look at a range of equipment to determine the current procurement and management processes and make recommendations on how they could be transformed to match the UK MOD DE&S model. This presentation will cover the methodology used and how the analysis covered complexity, cost, risk and usage to determine how the procurement and management of the equipment could be transformed. It will also set the equipment in context with that of DE&S as a whole and show how the current internal transactional processes could be eliminated creating headroom within the project team allowing them to concentrate on managing the catalogue of equipment, generating and maintaining policy and implementing governance processes in accordance with the AOF.
