Integrated Logistic Support for a Major Defence Programme

The UK Apache Attack Helicopter is a significant and deadly weapon system. The programme, a multi-million pound project, involved a complex and geographically dispersed supply chain.

Challenge

With in-service timescales tight, and with the added pressures associated with coordinating such a complex programme, the need to implement a comprehensive and pragmatic approach to the Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) activity was critical to the success of the platform.

Solution

LSC Group has worked in partnership with the Apache programme since 1996, providing project support and through-life management expertise to support the activities associated with bringing the helicopter into service and the ongoing management of the programme.

Spread over a decade, LSC Group personnel have performed a number of activities including:

• Whole Life Cost modelling support - baseline, optimise and trade-off for maintenance policy, provisioning and operations
• System support analysis
• Financial Planning
• Information Management System

• Implementation of a comprehensive ILS package - giving flexible operational capability at minimum cost

• Identification of a number of major cost savings through-life

LSC Group is continuing to support this programme and is currently looking at proposals as to how the MoD can maximise the use of the growing volume of support data held within its systems.
