The Royal Navy (RN) has over 2 million pages of technical documentation supporting the different ships, marine engineering systems and combat systems currently in service.
With a significant number of legacy paper based documents, the RN found that their publications were becoming increasingly difficult to manage. As publications often covered equipment that were common to a number of ships and that were in service for a long period of time they were prone to regular revisions.
LSC Group were contracted to assist in the conversion of 12500 Books of Reference (BR) into electronic data modules in accordance with security classifications (DefStan 00-60) - making their publications fit for the requirement of modern information management.
With the RN keen to maintain this improved position, LSC Group were awarded a further contract to support the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of all their BRs as Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETPs).
